What Wellness Choices Do You Have?
What Wellness Choices Do You Have?
In this second article, I'll continue last month's article "Will What You're Doing Now For Health Work For You Or Against You in 2008?" You can review the December 2008 issue here...
“All the pleasures and riches in the world are insignificant when you do not have your health to enjoy them with, so a choice for health and wellness begins within each of us.”
Before the age of 30 I was diagnosed with five significant diseases: Multiple Sclerosis, Erythema Nodosum, Sarcoidisis, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Through the process of each diagnosis and treatment, I found out the hard way that we do have many choices ... when disease strikes, we can choose to remain a victim of the disease and accept it as inevitable, or we can choose to fight back and do whatever it takes to overcome it.
25 years ago I chose not to sit and wait for some miracle and until I discovered how to resolve my illnesses naturally, I tried everything that western medicine had to offer. I could not live well knowing that some mornings I could not walk, dress myself, drive a car or play with my child.
The Failure Of A Western Medical Approach Is No Excuse To Give Up
Each disease I had been diagnosed with had prescription drugs targeting certain symptoms and the result was a large number of conflicting drugs that introduced more harmful symptoms and side effects than the disease symptoms they failed to treat.
Despite my lack of success with the western medical approach, I believed there must be alternatives and so began to question medical proficiency because surly there are cause and effect relationships to be drawn when a series of events such as mine happen!
When we get sick, it is usually not overnight and often it is just the final drop that makes the vase overflow. It usually happens over time, even years … one symptom, then another one … then another … until they call it a disease.
I remember asking a medical specialist “if there could be a connection between the 5 diseases I'd been diagnosed with" and was told that, “No, no connection at all – that is just the way it is”.
With That Glib Answer I Began Researching Alternatives
My early research from 1982 to 1992 lead me to numerous eastern philosophies, nutritional strategies, herbal medicines, food supplementation, mental visualizations, exercise, hydration, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) , alternative therapies and so on. The more I studied, the better each of the pieces seemed to fit into a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Once I halted the pharmaceutical approach and began to slowly adopt some of the simple alternatives I’d discovered, I finally started to get well and in time, all the symptoms mysteriously disappeared!
I have learned and experienced that the body is far more likely to naturally heal and grow strong when it simply receives what it needs.
My studies continue today, and just as science has advanced our technology, continuing education into the many advances of holistic health and healing keeps me up to date and deepens my understanding of the relationships and impacts each of my program elements has on an individuals willingness and ability to choose and experience personal well-being.
Western Medicine Has Its Place
Amazing improvements in critical health care has saved many lives and its importance can not be overstated. But at the same time, endless prescriptions and OTC medications that at their best temporarily mask symptoms without healing and at their worst place life at risk perpetuate an industry that counts on millions of people purchasing in-effective products.
I believe people need to know they have options …
When I was ill, I promised myself, (and family though they didn’t know), I would not be living like that. Once I would come back (walking and all), I would do everything I could to stay healthy. I had decided to take personal ownership and responsibility for my own recovery!
Did you notice? I did not say if … I said once I would come back – this is a very important point and I believe crucial to successfully fighting any disease (or achieving any goal for that matter) – you see, in my mind and in my heart - there were no doubts:
- I did not know how long it would take
- I did not know what I would have to do
My burning desire was to get well, then to stay well. I wanted to enjoy life without depending on others - I wanted and still want to do everything I choose, when I want, as long as I want and I still do whatever it takes. Today I share the simplicity of my education and experience so others can quickly experience the benefits in their lives.
Simply A Desire To Succeed
Years ago, long before the “Secret” became a phenomena, I was fortunate to have stumbled upon the inner convictions that really made all the difference for me. Napoleon Hill said it very well “to achieve anything, you need a burning desire” and Winston Churchill’s words describe the degree of focus it takes “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never … in nothing, great or small, large or petty … never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
Long before I’d ever heard of Napoleon Hill or the words of Winston Churchill, I’d literally stumbled upon 3 key elements that every successful individual in any pursuit knows:
- a really good reason to want to succeed
- the ability to constantly visualize the goal being achieved
- the conviction to never stop trying
I have since discovered these have been the absolute fundamentals of literally everyone throughout recorded time who has succeeded despite seemingly overwhelming odds. My goal was very simple, I wanted to lead a normal life … yet in following these three simple disciplines, I have received so much more!
A Mission To Share The Knowledge Of Lasting Health
Today, I consider myself to be a teacher, guide and coach, showing people what I call the “pieces of the puzzle” through my Bodiwell Health System. It is the basis of my consulting practice.
I also believe there can be no higher calling than to provide useful guidance to another human being through knowledge and skills that can lead them to a lifetime of opportunity, happiness and well-being.
I am not unique by any means and I know that most people will not need to complete the same journey I’ve taken, but some will and do and for all I offer effective guidance.
Anybody can change their circumstance, improve their situation and achieve a goal if they have a good enough reason, the “burning desire”… then “take whatever action is necessary, do whatever it takes”.
The majority of people want good, solid, reliable and affordable health alternatives and the program I developed and you’re about to discover with my practical approach delivers precisely that, and more. Join me next month as I begin to share the eight simple elements of abundant health and long-term well-being.
